Integrated Biometrics to Demonstrate IoT Fingerprint Sensor at CES 2018

Company will preview first light-emitting sensor (les) fingerprint scanner designed for the internet of things at lvcc tech east booth 62320.

Integrated Biometrics will make its debut at the Consumer Electronics Show 2018 (CES 2018) taking place January 9-12 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The company will preview its first light-emitting sensor (LES) fingerprint scanner designed to secure devices built for the Internet of Things (IoT).

Forbes Magazine estimates that more than 75 billion IoT devices will be deployed by 2025. However, security is an afterthought for many device manufacturers, especially those producing low-cost parts and products. Protecting these devices and the software connecting them to corporate systems is critically important.

“the internet of things is the future,” said stephen thies, chief executive officer of integrated biometrics. “our new fingerprint scanner helps organizations protect that future, now that we’ve extended our ground-breaking les technology into the world of commercial iot products.”

Integrated Biometrics’ new commercial fingerprint sensor combines a compact, lightweight form factor with a rugged design that performs under demanding conditions, including bright lights, direct sunlight, and temperature extremes. It produces reliable results for wet or dirty fingers, and it doesn’t need cleaning between scans. This sensor also requires very little power to operate. As such, it is an ideal solution for both indoor, outdoor, and mobile use, including high-volume public environments.

Integrated Biometrics’ LES scanners use an electroluminescent polymer to generate fingerprint images. The film layer is laminated directly to a thin film transistor (TFT) camera. The result is a slim and lightweight optical scanner that meets the resolution and performance standards mandated for law enforcement, border control, commercial, and military operations in a package far smaller than traditional backlit prism-based designs.

CES describes itself as having “served as the proving ground for innovators and breakthrough technologies for 50 years — the global stage where next-generation innovations are introduced to the marketplace.” Integrated Biometrics extends that tradition of innovation at CES 2018 with this new application for LES technology.
