The ATF’s National Firearms Act (NFA) Division is the United States federal authority tasked with regulating firearms covered by the National Firearms Act. The NFA Division processes all applications to make, export and register NFA firearms and destructive devices, and all NFA applications require fingerprint capture and submission.

The network of nationwide Integrated Biometrics partners is highly educated on the complete 10-print fingerprint capture process and offers FBI-certified scanners necessary for accurate and secure live scan capture that that meet ATF standards, including slap fingerprints and rolls.

ATF’s eForm system enables gun shop owners and consumers to fill out ATF Forms 1 and 4 electronically or print on FD-258 fingerprint cards, which could result in a significant reduction of the time it takes to transfer compared to paper forms.

Electronic fingerprint capture offers gun shops, FFL dealers, and others a range of benefits, including:

  • Faster processing times
  • Ease of use
  • Eliminates the need for ink and paper
  • Compliance with NFA regulations
  • Used for a variety of ATF forms including ATF Form 4 and ATF Form 1 to print on FD-258 fingerprint cards for NFA items.

Integrated Biometrics FBI Appendix F-certified and AFIS compliant scanners are NFA-approved for ATF form submission. Highly efficient ten-print live scanners capture single-finger rolls, flats, and four-finger slaps to ensure compliance with NFA regulations.

  • Rapid dry finger capture
  • Not affected by latent prints, dirt or oils
  • Rejects common spoofing attacks
  • Unaffected by extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or bright artificial lights
