Mobile biometric data collection via the Mobio Kit
Mobility, A Struggle for Identity
Identity cards are an essential part of life in Belgium, used for everything from medical appointments to public transport and interactions with government agencies. But those unable to travel to their local government office, such as the elderly, disabled, hospitalized, or incarcerated, were unable to renew or apply for the new Belgian eID card. Without their digital identity, people lost access to key services to the dismay of local governments.
Dioss Smart Solutions Mobio Kit: Capturing Identity Anywhere
To overcome this barrier, Dioss Smart Solutions, an experienced software integrator with expertise in identity solutions, teamed up with Cevi Group which works closely with Belgian cities and towns on identity management.
To help local governments reach everyone eligible for an identification card, Dioss Smart Solutions needed a solution that met a demanding list of requirements. The registration kit needed to be mobile and easy to transport to homes, hospitals and other facilities. It had to be user friendly and durable. The device also needed to be able to capture diverse data, including fingerprints and signatures, as well as scan documents quickly and reliably such as identity cards and passports.
To facilitate smooth and easy fingerprint capture, Dioss Smart Solutions sought a scanner with a large surface area and a proven track record in the industry. Moreover, the scanner needed to perform well in a wide range of environments with different lighting and more.
Integrated Biometrics’ Five-0, with a large scanning area of 81.2 mm x 50.8 mm / 3.2” x 2.0” and the device weighing just 191.64 gm / 6.76 oz, was easily embedded in the Mobio Kit.
Reaching Everyone with Mobile Identity Registration
About 30 municipalities in Belgium currently use the Mobio Kit, reaching people who are less mobile in their homes and other locations.
Bruges, with a population of 119,000, was among the first to adopt the Mobio kit to better service those unable to reach administrative offices easily.

Today, more administrative regions in Belgium are using the kit to expand their identity registration capability. The Mobio Kit is also very flexible and easily adaptable to other services. Soon, the kit will also deliver driving licenses and travel passports at home.
